Basic Rules
All members must be a part of our discord (https://discord.gg/sundownrp) at all times whilst playing on the server.
A good quality microphone is required to be part of the server.
Users found playing on the server with a bad - low quality microphone that can cause immersion breaks will be warned and given guidance on how to improve.
All members MUST BE 18+ years of age to play on this server this does not mean any form of ERP can take place.
No exceptions to this, no EroticRP (ERP) and you MUST be 18+ to apply for this server.
Value for life is a key component to our server and all players must ensure they value the life of all characters they create.
VFL can mean lots of different things, from not jumping from a waterfall whilst out roaming with your friends or not complying while being held up by 3 armed robbers whilst you’re on your own.
Twitch TOS (found here: TWITCH TOS) must be adhered to at all times regardless if you are streaming or not.
This ensures a good clean, safe and fun environment without the worry of something going wrong.
There are no forms of Supernatural or god powers within our server, everyone is just a regular human from the Wild west era of 1890.
You can RP that you are a crazy witch from the swamps, but you will never be granted the ability of any actual power past what everyone else can utilise.
Staff can only be contacted via the ticket system please do not Direct message staff at any point in regards to server issues.
The ticketing system keeps us accountable and ensures any issues or feedback is logged correctly and safely.
You Must Always stick to the roleplay regardless of any rule breaks that may occur, stay in character always. (If any OOC issues arise, put in a ticket and leave the Roleplay scene).
Always stay in character and handle any rule breaks in character as best as you can. Then please feel free to raise a ticket once that specific RP has concluded.
Anyone actively found to be avoiding Role play will face admin action.
At it’s core we are an RP server, if you just here to play the game, make money and not interact with others then perhaps this isn’t the server for you.
While interacting with each other in our discord always stay respectful and courteous or admin action will be taken against you.
This includes all staff and community members. We will always treat you with respect and dignity, make sure you do the same to us!
All character names must be appropriate to the time period and not the same / too similar to known personalities such as ‘jessie james’ and so on.
This is for immersion purposes and is a hard rule we stand by, no Jack Sparrow, no James Bond etc.
You CANNOT remember the last 20 minutes of a scene if:
You have to respawn / killed / knocked down and unconscious with a major injury (loss of limbs, many bullet wounds and so on) in combat.
You CAN remember if:
A player that was there tells you what happened (providing they survived the encounter).
You were still continuous (Minor injury such as a single bullet wound) and taken to the doctor by a player / doctor is attending the scene..
Other - In County Specific.
If you are lucky enough to become a business owner in Sundown County then please be advised that you are expected to be reasonably active on the server. As such if businesses are inactive for more than 4 weeks they will be revoked and re-sold.
This is to make sure everyone has a fair chance at running a business and spots aren’t hogged by inactive players. As a business owner if you are going to be inactive for more than 4 weeks for a specific reason then please open a ticket and talk to us.
Regarding Backpacks - You are allowed to store 1 backpack on your character and keep 1 backpack in total on your wagon / horse. So you can swap these backpacks around if you wish.
So you can have two backpacks in total, but only a maximum of one can be stored on a horse / wagon at anytime. If you have a horse and a wagon you can still only have a maximum of 1 total backpack in any storage. It is not 1 per horse / wagon that you own.
If you come across a seemingly abandoned backpack you are not permitted to touch it.
This is due to the volatile nature of the Backpack script use and this is to safeguard any abuse or glitching occuring.
Market Place - You are not allowed to use the Market Place as a method of moving items between your characters and additionally it is not permitted for characters belonging to the same user (That’s you!) to buy or sell to each other via the Market.
You will be given a strike / warning if you are caught doing this. It’s not in good RP spirit and is poor taste for us. We have a tool in place to monitor this so we will know if you do this! The Market place is intended as a last resort for characters who cannot find buyers for their wares in RP. RP and character to character interactions should always be the primary goal / objective.
Discord
Please make sure that your username is appropriate, if not, you will be warned. The second offense will be a 24 hour ban, and so forth.
Sundown Staff team will use their own discretion on this.
Do not message another player without permission via discord during roleplay or at any point, please keep it all in character
Respect everyones privacy. Please ask them in the whitelist chat if they are happy for a DM before you initiate.
Discord Nickname name must match character name of those you currently play.
Please use the following template Character Name - ( Username ) e.g Derek Flatliner - (My_UserName99)
This obviously doesn’t apply until you are whitelisted on the server and have a character created.
Toxicity / None respectful behavior
Whether in character, out of character, or in Discord you should never speak or treat anyone negatively that does not make sense to your character's traits.
E.G Starting an arguement with someone on discord as you weren’t happy with the outcome of some RP.
Being toxic in any way, shape or form whether it's in the server or in Discord can have you removed from the community. If you have an issue, please create a ticket so that we can properly discuss it, instead of creating unnecessary drama.
Sundown is proud of being a non-toxic and friendly community. We won’t stand for fire starting, arguing, being disruptive, toxic and any other form of foul behaviour. Having a good attitude is the best attribute you can bring to this community.
Forms of communication
Only use the comms that are provided in RP (Ex. Telegrams). Using other services such as Discord to talk with your friends is prohibited while in game. (This gives an unfair advantage and will result in a warning/ban).
Though please note we do have sections on the discord which can be treated as ‘read in the newspaper’ knowledge such as government notices and advertisements. Players are also permitted to know the train schedule as players become available for the service.
Going Out of character (OOC)
Players should refrain from going OOC and follow the RP best they can, if this is not possible we advise you to leave the roleplay scene and report via a ticket.
We aim for 100% in character when playing on the server. If you need to go AFK then make sure you excuse yourself in RP. However, we are all human and we get emergencies can happen. In an emergency scenario your personal well being and health should always take priority.
Reporting Players / raising a ticket
Reporting players should be the last resort when things can not be dealt with in character or you have witnessed a clear rule break. When reporting another player(s) we ask you to provide as much evidence as possible including video footage, streams and any other forms of recording to give staff the best chance possible to identify the issue and make the correct call of action.
Creating a good, clean, fun environment is a huge priority for us. But the more evidence you can provide us the more likely we can figure out a resolution or take appropriate action.
Group Size Limits
Criminal Gangs can have up to 8 members (Including offline members).
Any groups larger than this could be considered far too ‘powerful’ for the server to handle reasonably within RP.Riding Size limit for all criminal activity is maximum of 6.
This is to allow reasonable chance for law RP to take place in a clean, balanced scenario.
Riding Limit for all PVE - No limit (May change depending on server performance).
Though note ‘bubbling’ is a thing on RedM. when you reach 30+ players in the same proximity you may start to experience bubbling whereby you may not hear / see everyone around you.
The Riding Limit for Law is 7.
The law is government driven, our view is that they should always have a small form of upper hand.
An owner of any Job role can have up to 5 people working for them at any time (This includes ranches).
This limit is in place to encourage players to spread around different jobs within the county
Please also remember to write about how much you love pineapple pizza on your application for extra brownie / cool points.
Fail RP.
Being hogtied - If as part of the RP your character is Hogtied, you cannot break free while in the presence of your captor and if they leave the scene you can break free after 2 minutes.
For example a criminal group hog ties you and takes you hostage so they can carry out a bank job. While the scene is active and the Criminals are around you, you cannot wriggle free. It’s weird and is not valuing your life. Once they leave the scene and you are not released please wait 2 minutes before freeing yourself.
You may not identify anyone via their voice, you can however use clothing, weapon customisations and other common characteristics to suspect someone - This can not be used to 100% identify someone unless they are seen without a mask / face covering.
You can however describe the accent the suspect was using as part of investigation RP. But it cannot be used to solely identify an individual. Especially where the suspect is wearing a bandana and ‘their voice is muffled’
Using terms such as ‘going in my head’ or ‘they have itchy eyes’ is classed as fail RP.
We have a great discussion thread over in discord for alternatives ways to say these things
Stating you can prove your innocence or words to that effect by using recording programs such as Medal whilst in character is fail RP. (If there is a problem, raise a ticket after the RP encounter has finished and provide proof there).
Saying you have your medal shining or you have photographic memory is weird and immersion breaking. If someone is really going wrong outside the realms of RP then consider raising a ticket.
You may not use the Alert system in order to ‘bait’ law or doctors so that they can be used as a hostage, steal items or to get them involved in criminal or normal activity other than the alerts intended purpose.
This use of the alert system is classed as fail RP by the use of in-game mechanics to gain an advantage you wouldn't otherwise have. This also includes law baiting using any method that sends a law alert such as contraband sales solely with the intent to trap the law.
Killing NPCs as they are not players (NVL) or antagonizing them to attack you.
“Locals” should be treated the same as any human player. Though we do understand sometimes they like to start a fight for no reason! Defend yourself as your character would in these situations.
Using the /alert police menu while being held at gunpoint, this makes no sense to do so unless you got away /after the interaction
Wait until the Interaction has ended before calling for help using the /alert system. You wouldn’t pull your cell phone out in real life and call the police if you were being robbed! It might antagonise them!
Powergaming.
The use of game mechanics and using means that aren't available to you to gain an advantage.
This includes but not limited to cheats and exploiting
Avoiding having injuries or being treated by Doctors and instead using respawn and being fine.
Medical RP is very important and can lead to some great RP!
Using exploits in game via the mechanics are not allowed
Waiting for an individual to gain revenge by camping a spawn point.
Transferring items from one character to another is classed as fail RP and you will face admin action.
Ideally if you have more than one character then they should not talk about, spread infomation about or push any kind of agenda to benefit your alternative character.
Metagaming.
The use of information gained by you as an individual and not as your character, for instance watching something on a stream and using that information in game. Accessing information you should not have even if you do not directly use it 'IC' is still considered Meta
Always make sure the information your character knows has been obtained fairly in-character. There’s also a wealth of of infomation for government notices and business advertisements on discord which can be used.We at SDRP want to support our streamers and lurking in a muted stream to provide support is fine as long as that is not used in game (ie stream sniping or finding someone somewhere you wouldn't normally know of). Tickets raised due to this will be treated as META.
Cover yourself and do yourself a favour. Do not watch / talk in any streams where your character is actively in the scene. It doesn’t look great on you. Just focus on yourself and your RP!
Combat Logging.
Anyone found to be logging out during combat to avoid death or capture will have admin action taken against them.
This is power gaming and not in the spirit of RP.
Vehicle DeathMatch (VDM)
Using a Wagon, Cart, horse or any vehicle to down or kill a player is prohibited and falls alongside our RDM rule below.
We understand accidents happen, but intentionally running down a player with a wagon is against our rules due to how strong this method is and how quickly it will down a player.
Knocking down a player via the use of a single horse can only be used if there is sufficient RP leading up to and during the event.
example; you are trying to escape a situation on your horse and someone is stood in the middle of the road taking shots at you. It would not be unreasonable for you to attempt to ride that person down as you flee the scene.
Random DeathMatch (RDM)
Killing another player(s) without any interaction, story or roleplay behind it. This will result in admin action.
All attempts must be made to ensure roleplay is started prior to any interaction(s) no matter the reason.
The ONLY TIME players can openly fire upon each other is when they have a WAR submitted via a ticket to admins, this can only be done when defending home territory and for no other reason.
Bans
We at Sundown Roleplay operate a 3 strike system, 1 written warning 1 verbal warning and last warning is the ban itself.
Bans are handed out as 72 hours (3 days), 168 hours (7 days), and perma-ban.
Each rule failing is merited on its own actions and we have the right to ban anyone at any time depending on the severity of the rule failing.
We believe in the education of role players to help understand where you may have gone wrong and assist in helping you and us become better in a friendly and calm environment.
If you are banned, you are welcome to create a ban appeal via AppSystems to discuss the ban.
Perma Bans will not be discussed.
